If you currently own rental property in Frisco, TX or are considering leasing or property management services here, it's good to be aware of the latest coronavirus information from local school districts.
How the school district operates in this unprecedented time could potentially affect how long your property stays vacant as well as the rent rate. Below is taken directly from the Frisco ISD website. If you have questions on if/how Frisco rentals have been affected, we would be happy to answer them for you (469) 296-8636.
"Frisco ISD continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus. The District receives regular updates and guidance from Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath and other local, state and federal agencies regarding response, prevention and mitigation efforts. This direction has changed repeatedly over the last several months and will continue to evolve based on COVID-19 conditions across the state and our local community.
2020-2021 School Calendar
The first day of school in Frisco ISD will be August 13. FISD will offer both on-campus instruction and virtual instruction, also called Virtual Academy, during the 2020-21 school year, but all students will start the year in a virtual learning environment. At this time, this period is planned to last the first three weeks of the school year with the first day of on-campus instruction on September 3 for those students who have selected in-person learning. Instruction will continue online at that time for those students who have selected virtual learning.
Parents should note that some adjustments have also been made to the previously approved school calendar. Three staff professional development days have been moved to provide more opportunities for teacher and staff training earlier in the school year. These days are non-instructional days for students, so there will be no school on August 21, August 28 and September 4. See the updated school calendar here.
On-Campus or Virtual Instruction
An opportunity to select or change your student's instructional environment will be available prior to the beginning of the school year. The District will utilize the Student Portal for parents to submit a change to what was previously communicated to the District via the commitment form. Parents will be able to start submitting changes on July 27. The deadline to request a change will be July 30 at 11:59 p.m. After this period, the next opportunity to change your student’s instructional environment will be at the end of the first nine weeks of school, which falls on October 16. Families can expect communication in September about this mid-semester opportunity.
After recent developments from TEA and as a result of FISD’s decision to provide an online environment for the first three weeks, Frisco ISD is pleased to share that it will be possible to take almost all secondary courses, including fine arts and CTE courses, through the Virtual Academy, though some courses will still require an on-campus component. Please know that due to scheduling limitations, some courses may not be offered based on student interest within the specific environment requested.
